SEROTONIN VALLEY GOES TO TAGHAZOUT

Serotonin Valley x Taghazout: A Campaign Rooted in Community and Sunshine

The winter, Serotonin Valley embarked on an unforgettable journey to Taghazout, Morocco—a vibrant coastal village renowned for its surf and skate culture. With our dream team in tow, we set out to explore, connect, and celebrate the spirit of community that defines this beautiful place. This trip marked a unique collaboration between Serotonin Valley, DJ Tsunamy, her manager Sorzano, and the iconic Taghazout Skatepark—an invitation extended by Ali Tamara, the park's visionary owner.

Partnering with DJ Tsunamy, an international artist known for her dynamic mixes spanning Soca, Baile Funk, and Afro Digital, was an incredible experience. She was accompanied by her manager, Sorzano, who documented our journey through videography.

As for the Serotonin Valley collective, Mina Rohani—the brilliant photographer behind the whole campaigns—captured the magic of Taghazout through her lens. Model Spike Bartholomew brought our collection to life, while Mabel Cefai of Agency Eleven infused the trip with her expertise and enthusiasm. As Serotonin Valley’s founder and designer, I had the privilege of leading this adventure and witnessing the incredible synergy of our team.

The Taghazout Skatepark: A Hub for Community and Creativity

A standout highlight of our visit was our time at the iconic Taghazout Skatepark, where Ali Tamara has cultivated a space that goes far beyond skating. Built by and for the local community, the park fosters connections between locals and visitors alike, united by a shared love for the sport. We were warmly welcomed into this collaboration, gaining an intimate look at the skate scene in Taghazout. Through conversations with Ali, we learned about the park’s history and its role as a cultural and creative hub.

Taghazout Skatepark’s mission extends beyond providing a place to skate. It donates skateboards and protective gear to children who cannot afford their own, hosts competitions to sponsor passionate young skaters, and ensures that no one is excluded from the joy of skating. Some of the young skaters we met—many of whom have been sponsored by Ali—were incredibly talented, effortlessly landing tricks with a level of skill that was awe-inspiring. Watching them push their limits, some even skating in flip-flops, was a testament to their dedication and pure love for the sport. Beyond their talent, what struck us most was their kindness and warmth. They welcomed us with open arms, eager to share their stories and their space, embodying the spirit of community that makes Taghazout Skatepark so special.

Ali’s future plans include expanding the park to support more youth from low-income families, as well as creating opportunities for disadvantaged women and girls. His vision embodies inclusivity, fostering cultural exchange and friendships that transcend nationality, class, and background.

Sunshine, Surf, and Skate: The Heart of Taghazout

Taghazout left an indelible mark on all of us. Here, surf and skate are more than just activities—they are a way of life, deeply intertwined with the community. The warmth and generosity of the people we met, both at the skatepark and on the beaches, made us feel instantly at home.

Beyond the skate scene, we immersed ourselves in the vibrant surf culture. The locals were incredibly welcoming, eager to share their love for the ocean and the lifestyle that comes with it. One of the most special moments was meeting Tsunamy’s friends on the beach, who gave us an authentic glimpse into the surf scene—its energy, camaraderie, and the pure joy of the waves. More than just a sport, surfing here is a way of connecting, celebrating, and embracing the beauty of the present moment.

Ali Tamara

A heartfelt thank you to Ali Tamara for inviting us into his space and giving us the opportunity to collaborate with such an inspiring community. It was incredible to see familiar faces from the beach at the skatepark later in the evening, reinforcing how interconnected and welcoming this place truly is. This collaboration highlighted the transformative power of skateboarding in uniting people and fostering creativity.

Looking Ahead

Our time in Taghazout reaffirmed the importance of creating spaces where community and creativity can thrive. Ali Tamara’s work with Taghazout Skatepark is a testament to the impact of such spaces, and we’re excited to share more about our conversations with him in an upcoming feature.

As Serotonin Valley continues to grow, collaborations like this remind us why we started in the first place—to celebrate community, creativity, and the boundless energy of the people and places that inspire us.

Thank you, Taghazout, for sharing your light with us.

We can’t wait to come back.
